China’s world interests are “not properly served” by aligning with Russia, the head of Britain’s intelligence, cyber and stability agency warned, as it would “constrain” China’s worldwide position and undermine its mentioned beliefs in territorial integrity and longstanding declare on Taiwan.
Jeremy Fleming, who leads the UK’s alerts intelligence agency GCHQ, explained: “We know both Presidents Xi and Putin position wonderful benefit on their particular relationships . . . but there are dangers to them the two, and extra for China, in being as well carefully aligned.”
